How amun works

The focus of amun is the extensive plugin system. Every function of amun is provided via plugins without a plugin it is more like a framework with a user managment system where you can create relations between the users. In amun you have two content types "page" and "category". A category is like a folder it is only for creating a structure. In each category you can put pages. A page is a container for an plugin. The clue is that you can create from one plugin many pages i.e. If you have the plugin news installed you can create many different news pages and each page is independent from the other.

The user managment works in combination with the plugins. Each plugin can register rights i.e. (add news, add news comment, etc...). You can set these rights at the backend. In amun each visitor of your website is assigned to an user account either the anonymous account or the account of the user. Because of that it is easy to set special rights for anonymous user. A user account is assigend to a user group wich holds the rights from the plugins. The backend of amun is based on ExtJS so it has an easy to use and innovative user interface. You can create for the backend different user groups called "groupadmin" these groups are independet from the user groups and contain all rights for the backend. So you can create admin users that only access a part of the backend i.e. for moderators.

The story of amun

I like the web and as developer I really like technolgies wich moving the web forward. Time ago I have start developing an framework called psx. With this framework I have implemented several specifications. Then I had the idea to combine all those social technologies to one cms wich can act as a learning resource how you can implement such technolgies or as a base from that you can develop great social web applications.

In time of writing there is much theory about social technologies but less code. The key to the social web is that website have to implement such technologies because i.e. you dont need an OpenID if theres no website where you can login with that. So this project tries to help websites implementing such technologies that means moving the theory into real web applications.

Support amun

If you like this project and want support it do not hesitate to contact me either via the mailingslist or drop a topic in the forum. Because amun is currently in an beta stage their are many things todo. First we have to test amun to find all dirty bugs (if their are any xD). If you want do that simply download the current version and try to install it on your local server and report the result whether all works fine or not. And we need a more detailed and good understandable manual.
